United States v. Rhodes, No. 22-cr-00015 (APM). CourtListener and the docket assign the case to Judge Amit P. Mehta. The January 12, 2022, indictment charged Elmer Stewart Rhodes III and other Oath Keepers members with seditious conspiracy and related counts arising from January 6. Seditious conspiracy is a criminal charge under 18 U.S.C. § 2384: conspiring to oppose the government by force. It is not the civil January 6 file.

Mehta tried the defendants in two phases. On November 29, 2022, a jury convicted Rhodes and Kelly Meggs of seditious conspiracy. Other defendants in the two trials were convicted of conspiracy offenses; Thomas Caldwell was not convicted of a conspiracy count, per Mehta’s later 2026 dismissal opinion summarizing the verdicts. A jury verdict is a finding in that criminal case. It is not a finding about President Trump, who was not a defendant on this caption.
